APW - Seth Thomas, Maiden Lane, 25J, 18S, gold-filled OF recase with beautiful rear engraving of an eagle with outstretched wings perched atop an initialed shield and set against a background of stars, white enamel DS impressed dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour numerals, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, capped third and fourth wheels, jeweled barrel arbor, ornate two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#351043. A scarce top grade, per the information at Eric Unselt's www.seththomasresearch.com website it is believed that in total approximately 720 of the 25 jewel Maiden Lane were produced.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good two-tone color, patch of fine scratches to area below "25 Jewels" marking, some additional scattered fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, few small surface spots, some mars to balance cock surface at area of regulator seat; dial with some hls to lower portion with the most prominent crossing between 4:30 and 7, some hand rub within seconds-register, small patched edge chips under bezel at 5:30 and near 8, edge flake under bezel at 7, small area of brown discoloration of perimeter at 2; fine hands, hour and minute with finish loss to tips; case shows light wear, bezel with scattered scratches and nicks, no dents, reduced engraving detail, small bits of wear to brass to pendant; tight bow, crown shows medium wear; glass crystal with small edge chip at upper-left.
